Sugar Cookies Yield: 6 dozen Oven: 325°F
2 cups Butter 2 cups Sugar 3 Eggs 1 cup Sour Cream 1 teaspoon Baking Soda 2 teaspoons Baking Powder 3/4 teaspoon Salt 6 cups Flour
Cream Sugar and Butter Mix in all other ingredients Cover and chill overnight (minimum 2 or 3 hours - it's easier to work with the dough when it's cold) Roll out on floured surface to about 1/4" thick, cutout cookies with cookie cutters Bake 12 minutes at 325°F Note: If you're not going to ice the cookies, sprinkle them with sugar before baking. ================================ Homemade Icing 1 cup Confectionery Sugar 4 Tablespoons Soft Butter (Not Melted!) 1 tsp Vanilla 1-2 Tablespoons milk - just enough to bring to spreading consistency
Mix until creamy, being cautious with the amount of milk to avoid making the icing too runny Add food coloring if desired. ===============================
It will take 2 or 3 batches of the icing to ice all 6 dozen of the sugar cookies. If your icing comes out too soft you can try refridgerating it for a few minutes, or add some more butter and conf. sugar.
