Re: need a recipe for chickpeas
I havent made this yet but it looks SOOO good
Chickpeas and Rice Recipe
1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons olive oil 1/3 cup parsley 2 tablespoons sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil 1 teaspoon dried basil 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1/3 cup parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1 bay leaf 1 cup basmati rice (uncooked) 2 cups water
Cook water, rice, thyme, and bay leaf and set aside. Heat olive oil and half of the butter in a skillet and then add chickpeas. When chickpeas start to lightly brown (about 5 mins) add parsley and the sun-dried tomatoes and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and mix rice and chickpeas together until rice is a golden color. Mix in remaining butter (cubed) and Parmesan cheese.

Re: need a recipe for chickpeas
I've made this recipe a few times. You could probably cut the oil in half. The recommended measure is way too much
Chickpea and Tomato Salad Ingredients 2 15-ounce cans of garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed 4 tomatoes (about 2 lbs.), cored and chopped 4 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped 2 cups of chopped sweet onion (Vidalia, Walla walla, or another variety) 2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil 6 Tbsp of white wine vinegar or sherry vinegar 1 teaspoon salt Freshly ground pepper Chopped parsley for garnish
Directions 1 Combine the garbanzo beans, tomatoes, eggs, and onion in a large bowl. 2 Separately mix the dressing ingredients in a jar or a small bowl - olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Pour over salad ingredients. Sprinkle on chopped parsley. Serve immediately. You can chill the undressed salad up to six hours, until ready to serve. Serves 6-8.

Re: need a recipe for chickpeas
We throw chickpeas in plain pasta and marinara. My kids LOVE it.
Sometimes we throw them in pasta with Olive oil and a bit of parmesan without the marinara too.

yes you have to cook them. They are dried and you cant eat them like that. There should be cooking directions on the back of the bag.
