Need a recommendation for an Occupational Therapist in Suffolk
My son is having some fine motor issues, especially with his grip on holding a pencil. His pre-school recommended that I explore OT services to get him ready for Kindergarten in the fall. Can you recommend some groups or people who provide OT services? I am looking to go through my private insurance and not have him evaluated through the school. Thanks!

Your best bet is to call your insurance company and see who they have listed as a provider. I know NY therapy takes insurance. There are also a ton of things you can do with him at home, ( Use tiny golf sized pencils and get the crossover pencil grip, get the handwriting without tear kindergarten handwriting workbook, get rid of markers and regular crayons for a while and use only 1 to 2 inch sized crayons....). I have a million strategies you can use if your interested in morn just let me know (I'm a pediatric OT).

The Therapy Spot in Islandia. They are great, and take most insurances. You need to get a prescription for an OT evaluation from your ped. then go from there.
