need advice... 33 weeks pregnant and dr is no longer delivering!
I'm 33 weeks pregnant. At my check up yesterday, my doctor let me know that his entire practice will no longer be delivering. He's affiliated with LIJ. So now theres no chance that I'll be delivered by any doctor that I've actually seen throughout my pregnancy. My issue is that I stuck with this doctor in Great Neck when I moved from Queens to Massapequa park. So right now I have to travel about 35 minutes for Dr's appointments and when the time comes, about 40 minutes away to a hospital and i won't even have my doctor there. Is it worth it to even think about switching this late in the game? Ugh.

Do you still want to deliver at LIJ or do you want to switch hospitals too? I would figure that out first
At the time (Sept. 08) I lived in Seaford, my OB was in Bellmore and the hospital I had DS at was in Oceanside.

I had to do it with my 1st pregnancy too and i was also around 33 weeks or so. My doctor closed her practice. Luckily i found an office willing to take me that was associated with the hospital that I wanted to deliver at. I was worried when I first switched to have to start all over again, but when I was in labor I barely saw the doctor anyway, the nurses were with me the whole time and he came in to check me initially, then once more through the night and then to deliver me. It's totally up to you, but at this point if you have to switch anyway, you might as well find someone closer

Thats the thing, i don't really have any attachment to LIJ - it was just the hospital that the dr used, so i would think now that I'm in massapequa, is it stupid to still go to LIJ without any real purpose?

why not call around and interview a few doctors? you might find one you like a lot. Let them know your situation. Which hospital would you like to deliver at? Which one(s) are your pediatricians affiliated with? That might make the difference for you.

Well, I am weird - I wanted to feel comfortable with the hospital first, and then asked on here for OB recommendations.
But I think either way is fine. In your case I would find a new OB first, so you don't have to travel 35 minutes for every OB appointment. Especially now!
