NEED ADVICE ON NEW JOB..
Ok here's the scoop. I was called on Tuesday and offered a GREAT position with a well know financial firm, and accepted the position. I resigned from my current position in a hospital (which I HATED). Went home later that night and told DH I felt like taking a PT just to see if I was prego or not..and sure enough it came out positive. Now of course we were both ecstatic..but I couldn't help but worry about the new job situation. I was told by my friend (who's position I am taking over) not to mention anything to them, and wait until I'm about 3-4 months along then drop the prego bomb. I received my offer letter from them yesterday and unfortunately according to the benefits I won't be entitled to paid maternity leave..since it will only be 8months that I am w/them when the baby comes. I'm not really concerned about that..I guess I was/am more worried about them getting upset. Am I crazy?

Re: NEED ADVICE ON NEW JOB..
I just started a new job last monday. I am trying to hold out until christmas to tell them. I also will not qualify for FLMA or paid maternity. I will only get disability @ 60% for 8 weeks.
PS (I am already starting to show, so I just have been wearing my old "fat" clothes.)
The advice that was given to me was to let them know that you intend to return to work right after the disability is up.
Good luck.

Re: NEED ADVICE ON NEW JOB..
Tough one - while you don't have to say anything- when you do they may feel deceived and make judgements about your intentions/commitment
The same thing happened to a friend of mine- she told her boss l right away and asked her to keep it quiet. She presented it as I want you to know that I didn't know before accepting this job- in the spirit of full disclosure
It depends on the type of relationship you want with them and if you are about what their assumptions are going to be

Re: NEED ADVICE ON NEW JOB..
By law you do not have to tell them you are pregnant until you decide otherwise. Also, they sent you the offer letter. They cannot discriminate against you b/c you are pregnant even if they were to find out. I would stay quite for a little while and tell them when you are ready (or when you can't hide it anymore).

Re: NEED ADVICE ON NEW JOB..
Since you are very newly pregnant (I think you said you aren't even 5 weeks yet) I'd take the job and tell them at 12 weeks.
You probably won't be eligible for benefits or FMLA though.
