Re: need advice on transitioning from crib to bed
When we transitioned my oldest, my Dh was doing the laying in there with him thing and it got old really really quick (and he wasnt mucho preggo!) Its harder for them to adapt if you do lay in with them. We just made sure the room was completely baby proofed, put a gate at the doorway and put him to bed. Quite a few nights he cried at the gate or fell asleep in the doorway but in the end, the novelty of the new bed wore off and he started going into the bed easier and easier. Same thing with my DD. My advice is to just not sleep in with her, she'll be fine. There will be those first nights of having to put her back in or ignore the tears or carry her into bed but eventually, she'll do it. My DS #2 is now climbing out of the crib since Christmas so we are just about ready to do it with him. We have a new challenge since he shares the room with his 5 year old brother but we hope to apply the same ideas, he'll just go in earlier than my older son.
There have been nights where I've sat in with them or did lay in bed with them but not when I was first trying to "bed train" them.
HTH
ETA: Even though you're 7m preggo, and I do feel for you with trying to do it - we were doing it with my DD when I was 7m preggo too - I think it's ultimately easier to get her settled with it now than before the new baby comes.

Re: need advice on transitioning from crib to bed
We are not at that point yet but I remember watching nanny 911 and one of the nanny's said to start with just sitting on the edge of the bed and then slowly move to the over a period of time. So you would start with the end of the bed, then move the floor then a little further and then to the door. HTH!

Re: need advice on transitioning from crib to bed
the crib is still in the room with him so I thought it would be more difficult but it wasn't..
I took out the crib matress, bumpers, mobile and I explained to him the bed was broken. I started at nap time...he was afraid to lay on the new bed (it's a big car with the crib matress)..so I laid down next to him. I told him I was going to get him some water. When I came back I gave him his water and just left the room.
That was it. The funny thing is he knows how to climb out himself but he waits for me to come and get him.

Re: need advice on transitioning from crib to bed
For us it wasn't too bad b/c he moved into a toddler firetruck bed and he loved it. At first he would whine that he wanted to go into the crib when it came to bedtime but he got over that fast.
How about you let her choose something to sleep with. We do this every night. He gets to choose something he wants to take to bed...it's usually a car or small truck or something....

Re: need advice on transitioning from crib to bed
she was sleeping with 3 dolls and a blanket and over the last month she slowly threw them out of the crib and bed. and now she wants no blanket, socks or dolls. i tried dora sheets becuase she loves dora. got her a princess body pillow that she plays with but still doesnt help. i have 3 nightlights in teh room so its not as scary either.
