NEED ADVICE PLEASE - Senior Citizen
I had no idea what the subject of this post should be. In any event, I have a friend who has a aunt who lives in a senior facility in MA. She is now beginning to experience what they believe is the onset of Alzheimer’s. She wants to move her out of the facility and into an assisted living facility closer to her in Brooklyn. Her aunt receives a little over $1k a month as her income and has a couple of thousand in her savings. She has absolutely no idea how to begin this process. She has reached out to several facilities to see if they have space and is waiting on a response. If you have had any experience with an elderly relative and placing them in a facility can you please share your experience regarding the process? I want to offer her any help that I can. She is very overwhelmed with the process. TIA

I agree.
My dad contacted an elder care attorney while my grandmother was still lucid. It was the best decision he made.
Now she's got full blown Alzheimer's & is in an assisted care facility (not considered a nursing home as she can still shower herself, etc but needs prompting).

Re: NEED ADVICE PLEASE - Senior Citizen
Thanks ladies. She has reached out to an elder care attorney that was recommended to her. The attorney is out of the office for a couple of days so she has to wait for a call back.

Re: NEED ADVICE PLEASE - Senior Citizen
If she lives in a senior facility in MA, the facility probably has social worker and other professionals that can help. I would call and ask to schedule a meeting with her SW to discuss options. They should be able to aid in placement.
