This is correct. You can call his company directly. My husband was hit without collision and our insurance co. handled the whole thing(geico)

NY is a NO fault state which means no matter who caused the accident, your own insurance has to pay the damages and then your insurance company goes after the other one for compensation. In y our case, since you did not have collision on the car, there is no claim.

Re: need answer asap RE car ins
When some dumba$$ opened his door into mine when I was standing right there I got his insurance info and called his co directly. I do have collision though.
Maybe your insurance thinks you want them to cover it... is there a miscommunication there?

If that is the case could you go crash into anyones car, assuming they dont have collision, and walk away damaging others property but owing nothing??

No-Fault does not apply to collision or property damage (when someone else damages your car). No-Fault pertains to injuries.
As far as the damage to your car, you have to contact the insurance company for the other vehicle and make a claim with them. Your own insurance company cannot make this claim for you if you do not have collision coverage (if you did and you used the collision coverage and it was not your fault, your company would go against the other company to get the money and your deductible back). Just call the other company and file a claim if it has not been set up already. Your vehicle was parked so there is no liability on you and they should cover it 100%.

Since you don't have collison, I dont' think you can go through your insurance company and would have to file it directly with the USPS' insurance company.

Thats not true-see my post above-this just happened a couple of months ago. Claim was paid by other insurance company. She hit my husband form behind.
