Need breast pump advice PLEASE

Ok, I am having my first child, due mid-August. I am starting a new job the week that school starts... I"M CRAZY I know but we have no choice.

The job is only 2-6 Mon- Fri, I will be home with DS at all other times to EBF but I am thinking that DH will need to feed DS with expressed breast milk during those 4 hours that I am gone? (please tell me if this is wrong, because I honestly have no clue)
If he will need to feed him during these 4 hours that I am gone, I am obviously going to need a good pump.

From my research both on LIF and reading online reviews, I think I have come to the conclusion that the Medela pump in style is the best for me to get, that it has the same motor as the freestyle but $100 less, and would probably not need the more expensive pump seeing as that I only need to pump enough milk for that one feeding everyday. (again, feel free to put me in my place and tell me if I'm wrong)

So my questions are this:
What is a good pump for me?
Can I buy one used? I read on LIF that some people recommend buying one off of someone and getting replacement parts to make it sanitary... do you recommend this and if so, what parts do I need to get?

TIA and sorry that this is so long

Medela Pump in Style was very easy to use, I liked it. It worked well. I like that it had battery option so if I needed to run to the phone or something during a pumping session I could.

If you plan on EBF, expect baby will be up EVERY 2 hours to feed, day and night. Albeit, this is the worst case, but its not uncommon. Some get away with 3-4 hours.

I would just buy/borrow the motor part, and get all new parts:

2 tubes - these don't need to be sanitized but its good to have fresh ones, they need to be really dry

Breast Shields, Valves, Membranes, bags or bottles to pump into, I used to always have have tons of extras so that I can just wash them all once a day.
I'd pump after every feeding.

You might want to try diff size breast shields depending on how your breasts change will change.

BTW, I have a medela pump in style, I bought in March and I'm done BF for good. FM me, if you want to buy the motor (which comes in bag).

Have you tried calling your insurance company to see if they cover the cost of a breast pump? I was able to get the Medela Freestyle for free, they covered it at 100%.

Depending on how long you pump, you can also look into renting one from the hospital. If you end up buying a used pump, you will need to replace the tubing and membranes.

I have a friend who is selling her Medela Instyle, it comes with the messenger bag. If you're interested, FM me.

I agree with the PP that getting a used motor but replacing everything else is fine.

I have my sister's PIS and have used it to pump periodically for older DS (he's 2) for about 4 mos and to exclusively pump for younger DS for 5 mos.

Get new shields, membranes, tubes, etc., but that should be fine.

I assume your DC would be 3 weeks old when you're leaving him/her for 4+ hours at a time when you start your job. I definitely needed to pump at that age so that the other caregiver had some food to give DC....

I also received mine free through my insurance so definitely look into it. Mine was an Ameda and worked great but I also rented one for a bit too.
