Need Creative Idea Help!! UPDATE W. CAKE
I just wanted to thank everyone for the ideas. I went back and forth trying to decide what to do with this cake. Finally I went to BJs and bought a premade round cake. It was decorated with blue roses. I pulled off the roses and decorated it my way. I have to say I am pretty happy with the way it came out and everyone loved it. Especially DH. 
I am hosting a dinner for DH birthday next weekend. He is a big bass fisherman and I bought him this cake topper. It comes with the fisherman and 2 trees.
I wanted to try to make that same cake but honestly I know I can't and don't have time to try. I was thinking of having a edible image printed up of a lake and put onto the cake then add the fisherman to look as if hes fishing in the lake.
We like in Ronkonkoma and he fishes here. I wanted to do a pic of lake Ronkonkoma but I can't find any good ones.
What do you all think?
Would that idea look ok?

You can do like what you said by taking a pic and going to BJ's and have them make up the cake for you....
they are really inexpensive and their cakes taste GREAT!!
I dont think they charge for putting the image on the cake either....

Bing maps have a birds-eye view of everything, which is different than the satellite images that other sites have. Depending on how zoomed in you want to get, you can use one of those aerial shots, and do a screen capture.

My sis's MIL had a picture scanned into an editble cake top/plate... that was in PA so I'm not sure if there is anywhere to do it in NY.
What about if you go to town of islip's website - and look for pics of LR?

that cake topper is COOL!
My DH is a big time lake fisherman too so several years ago we made him this cake-here's my daughter with the cake
a close-up
we used a sheet cake pan and added stuff we got at michaels. iys not as professional as what you posted but he loved it!

How adorable!! I love it. I wish I had the time to try something. Worst part is when it comes to cake decorating DH is so much better at it.

exactly what i was gonna say! cheap and they are the best cakes!!!!! You can even go over to lake Ronkonkoma and take your own picture, print it and bring it there!
