Need Health Insurance Advice...UPDATED W/ ANOTHER QUESTION
Without going into to much detail I hafta figure out which health insurance company i m going to pick.... money is not really the issue b/c i m single and am not paying for an entire family...
have u ever heard of Blue Cross
or
healthnet
or HIP...
which would u choose?
There are so many "options" for HIp I dont even know how to decide on any of this...
QUESTION: is blue cross part of blue cross/blue shield? or r there 2 different companies???

I have HIP Prime .....it is good but the only thing is you have to use the plan doctors and get referral. a bit of a pain. But they cover everything I need except chiropractor.

Re: Need Health Insurance Advice...
Without knowing what exactly you're going to get with each plan it's difficult to say.
You really need to look at each plan and compare side-by-side.
check what you have to pay out of pocket - meaning co-pays and deductables, etc.
and
see if the doctors you use are in or out of plan.
Every company has a different contract set up with insurance companies and so you need to see what your company's health plans offer.
I know it's a pain, but you really need to read through all the info you have so that you can make the best decision for you.

I agree..for me being able to go out of network without a referral is big. It means different things to different people.

ITA. I had HIP and hated it, but was under a plan where only participating providers were covered, and I needed referrals.
Can you ask coworkers which plan they have? That's really the best way to find out with your options.

i have HIP prime and LOVE IT!!!!! i can use any doctor i want and referals are a joke. i call my GP, tell him who i want to see and he faxes them a referral. piece of cake.
they have covered 2 surgeries and also 2 procedures that my surgeon told me no insurance company covered. well...HIP did!
and with no copays for anything, you can't beat it.
i would pick them 100% if it's HIP prime. (and you do NOT have to go to a HIP center--you can go anywhere)
