Need help BTDT Mommes- re: fever
DD has had a fever since yesterday morning- up and down from 101 to 103.5... she doesn't have any other major symptoms except her nose is running a lot (mostly clear but some cloudy boogies- sorry if TMI)- she is of course cranky but is still eating and she is sleeping more than normal.
what on Earth could this be? I think too high a temp to be a tooth? Or CAN it be a tooth? She's gnawing on her hands and drooling a LOT..
I've been giving her tylenol every 5-6 hours as needed... any other ideas?

Re: Need help BTDT Mommes- re: fever
Marron had high fevers last week too (100.7 - 104.3). I brought her to the doctor and they said one ear was "a little redder than the other" and prescribed Amoxicillin. As her mother, I did not feel she had an ear infection -- she was not pullin on her ear or crying like she was in pain at all. I waited til the evening to start the medicine to see if her fever would go down. It didn't so I gave her the Amox. before bed. Well 7 hours later, her temp was 97! I know the medicine did not bring it down that quickly. I think she just had a virus or she was teething. I did not give her any more Amoxicillin and she is just fine now. They can run high temps from a virus (think of how high it goes from the flu). Not sure what other moms' experiences have been with fevers from teething.
p/s - you can give her the Tylenol every 4 hours. She should be getting 15mg/kg. If you need help dosing, just give me her weight and I will figure it out for you.

Re: Need help BTDT Mommes- re: fever
I have read that teething will not cause any significant fever...maybe a slight rise in temp, but not a fever...maybe a virus or a little cold? I know the 103 temp is NOT a fever. Just keep monitoring. Johnny had a time where he had between 101-103...with sniffles and a cough. The motrin knocked it out and the fever was gone within a day. I hope she feels better!
