Need help finding a new gym or other method of working out NOW
I belong to Retro in Dix Hills and go with the 3 kids 4-5 days a week. I love this location, love the morning staff, love the child care girls so I am pizzzzzzzzed beyond belief. Some A-hole shattered their child care windows so they had to close it because there is glass all in the toys, everything has to get ripped up and beyond that the owner was telling me they were gonna be doing renovations starting Sept 1 and he was "gonna try" to keep it open (part of me thinks the owner did it so he HAD to close chilcare for the reno). Anywho... I was told I could go to Deer Park (horrible) or Farmingdale (heard good things about child care there). I go to Farmingdale and they are charging MORE THAN DOUBLE for the chil care I pay at Dix Hills. Now I am screwed because I can not afford it and I'm stuck not being able to workout at a gym because I HAVE TO bring the kids with me.
Does anyone know of any gyms with child care in the Melville area that are around $40 month? I'm so bummed I'm afraid of getting into a slump of not working out.

NYSC is a little more money per month for a gold membership but they have child care.
You could look into that.

Thanks. Do you know if it is a monthly child care fee on top of the membership?
I tried calling a few places and they won't discuss prices. The thought of having to schlep the three kids from gym to gym to inquire about prices is well... less than appealing to me

I go to Lucille Roberts in Massapequa and they have a child care which my BFF used to use all the time. You just have to pay $1-2 each time you bring your child in.

Thanks, I loved Massapequa LR was a member there forever but it got too expensive with three kids. $1.00 per kid, PER HOUR 4 days a week is a lot of money. I need a monthly fee with unlimited time for it to be cost efficient.

I go to Synergy (in Levittown). I pay $25 month and they have child care. They have other locations so maybe see if they have one close by to where you are.

NYSC is a lot more than that per month $70-80 and its 5 dollars for child care I believe. I have a membership discount and i still pay 50 and its still 5 dollars for cc. I don't waste my time bring ds to childcare and just go at night/weekends. My friend goes to golds and I believe it was like 40 a month with childcare.

Re: Need help finding a new gym or other method of working out NOW
I have had memberships at Synergy where it was free and at LA Fitness, it was 30/month for the family kids club (being I have three) in addition to the 30/month..
Did you try the Synergy in Farmingdale maybe? I need to renew and am looking at my options now as a matter of fact and was looking at Retro/Synergy/LA Fitness

Shouldn't the Farmingdale Location be honoring the Dix Hills pricing since their child care is out of service? I would be fighting that one!

That's not true - I belong to NYSC in Deer Park. The gold membership is 50 a month. Child care can be paid as you go or you can do monthly - although with 3 kids it will add up quickly!
It is 30/month 1 child, 15/ month for the second child and I think 10/ month for the third child.

They are all individually owned franchises which is why they all charge different rates.

That is insane. At Retro Dix Hills I pay $9.99 for the 1st, $6.99 for the 2nd and the third is free.

How old are your DD's? I've gone there twice, once with my kids (and the sitter was behind the front desk texting while there was no-one in the babysitting room) and once alone (looked inside and the sitter was sitting up on a table again, texting). Two of my friends have also had the same experience with their children there. We've only gone in the AM though so maybe night time is different although I tend to not like to go in the evening anyway. Deer Park's childcare was also double the price (the nerve of THEM)

Re: Need help finding a new gym or other method of working out NOW
10 months and 3 1/2. Yeah, they're usually not in the room when no one is in there, but the 2 girls that work nights are great with my girls. They're both very nice girls but they are still teenagers, they text and they chat with their friends. We've been going a few months and never have had an issue with either girl. They've always followed any instructions we have given and I've seen both handle the rowdier/older kids very well.
Yeah, it is more expensive, but it's the one most convenient to us. Boo.
I don't go during the day, but I know DH has and hasn't had anything negative to say. Then again, like most men, he's not always the most observant.
