Need help finding childcare/day care
So I finally called Tutor Time in New Hyde Park and they have a waiting list until next January/February! That would have been equal distance between my home and my work territory. To put my name on the waiting list I have to leave the full deposit (~$600) plus the reg fee ($100). Then I have to leave the same amount of money with the center that I can get DD into.
I called and visited the Glen Cove location. It's great and they had an opening, but it's terribly far from home in Garden City and not that close to work either.
I go back to work at the end of July. I know I waited till the last minute with this, but I was so on the fence about what to do. I really was unsure if day care was right for me... still not 100%, but I can see some benefits. If anyone has any suggestions for day care/childcare I'd appreciate it. Looking at about $300/week max. Please keep in mind that we live in the Garden City area and I work in the Great Neck/Manhasset area. Not really interested in traveling to Queens either.
TIA!

Re: Need help finding childcare/day care
What about Harbor Child Care in New Hyde Park? They are at the end of Herricks Road where Shelter Rock Rd & Searingtown Rd meet.
Or CLASP In Great Neck ??

Re: Need help finding childcare/day care
These were GREAT leads... all have waits until at soonest - september... so keep 'em coming if you know of good places...
CLASP starts at 18 mos of age. DD will only be 3 months when I go back to work... but good to know.
Harbor had 2 potential locations - Manhasset and NHP - both of which are great and I left my name on the NHP wait list - no $$$ required. Manhasset is to call me back.
First Class also has a waiting list, but taking the tour on Friday.
THANK YOU all again... any more recommendations welcome. I hear great things about Tutor Time, but Glen Cove is way too far and I can't see putting down $700 to be on a waiting list until January.

Re: Need help finding childcare/day care
TT should NOT be requiring a $600 deposit for the wait list. Mine in E. Rockaway only required the $100 reg fee....
And even though the waitlist is September, more than likely it wil be sooner. Just keep calling every week, people drop out and kids "graduate" all the time...
Good Luck, sorry I have no recommendations for you

Re: Need help finding childcare/day care
I know you said you don't want to travel to Queens, but there is a Kiddie Academy opening this summer on Northern Blvd. in Little Neck. It is JUST over the county line, so it's less then 5 min. from the Great Neck border.
