Need Help from a Travel Specialist-- Paris/Greece
DH and I are planning a late Spring trip to Greece- and I have no idea where to start.
I had looked at flights a while ago-- and saw that Air France flew to Greece, with a stopover in Paris for like $700 something per ticket.
I'd like to do this-- perhaps fly r/t to Paris- spend two nights there, then continue on to Greece, either continue on the same airline, or book some one way fares within Eurupe- to Greece and around the Greek islands as I know this is a cost effective way to get around. Way back, we'll just have a stopover in Paris and not spend any real time there.
Any reccos on figuring out where to look for the best deal, what airlines fly these routes, etc.
Also, if you are familiar with Greece-- where should we go? I know Athens for like one night/2 days and Santorini for a good chunk-- I guess that leaves one other spot to hit up.
Thanks!

Try to hit Oia, Santorini - it's less touristy than Thira/Fira.
I've heard great things about Crete & Rhodes.

I would try some off the beaten path Islands like Paros, Naxos, Cephelonia... Maybe Crete, Corfu...something like that. One of my friends goes to Paros every summer and she absolutely loves it.

Thank you! I couldn't think of Paros & Naxos...and Corfu. Have heard great things about them as well.

So is Mykonos worth it?

Awesome trip! I love the Paris/Greece conection - 2 of my favorite places. DH and I went on our HM this summer to Greece. Athens is great but it's a metroplolitan city - not worth it for more than a day or 2. I'd definitely check out Mykonos, Santorini, and Rhodes if you're looking for something different. Rhodes has a turkish feel to it and is a cool mixture of the 2 cultures. I'm sure that whatever you choose is going to be great though! FM me any questions you might have about any of the places- either France or Greece!

I haven't been to Greece since 1984...so I don't know much, but I do know that places like Mykonos and Santorini are really touristy (they were in 1984 at least) and my friend loves to go to really un-touristy places...so those are good, and my friend got taken to Naxo for a holiday by his Greek friend...so you know its got to be good. I think they got into some trouble with the local police on Naxos, so you might not want to mention my name when you get there!

I actually think we might be going around the same time.
I was talking to my dad who has been-- and he suggested staying in Athens for two nights, or even Hydra (sp?) and taking the Hydrafoil?? to Athens to see the ruins instead.. then the rest of the trip in Mykonos or Santorini.

hey Randi! I LOVED LaDuree. It's a bakery/tea place that is so charming and has incredible pastries.

Re: Need Help from a Travel Specialist-- Paris/Greece
We flew to Greece and had a layover in Paris b/c it was much cheaper than a direct flight. We stayed in Athens for 3 days, then flew to Rhodes, then stayed in Crete, and finally went to Santorini. I wouldn't stay in Athens for more than 2-3 days. Crete was nice, but I don't think I'd go back there again. Rhodes was gorgeous. We stayed at the Rodian Amathus Beach Hotel in the town of Ixia. We had a beautiful suite with a balcony overlooking the water.
I loved Santorini. That was the BEST part of our trip. We stayed in Oia at the Oia Mare Villas, which was really nice.
I also heard great things about the katikies hotel.
Have a great time.

Thanks! I did a bunch of research yesterday and the Oia Mare Villas had some mixed reviews on Trip Advisor-- what kind of room did you stay in and what did you think of the place?
Also-- also restaurant reccos/things to do in Oia would be great!! Thanks!

I really liked the hotel. I think our room was called the jr. honeymoon suite. When you walk in, there's a couch, kitchen and doors that open to a private balcony overlooking the water. Our bedroom was on the floor below.
We mostly walked around to random restaurants to eat. I never had a bad meal. The one really great place that I'd recommend is Ambrosia. The food is great and most of the tables are outside overlooking the water.
