Need help getting back on track... opinions please!

I've lost weight with WW before, but I've never had as much to lose as now... I had DS over three years ago and I have absolutley no excuse to still be carrying this baby weight. I had 40 to lose. I lost almost 20, but have gained about 8 back. I'm doing WW online. I walk outside when I can after I put DS to bed.

I have no will power. I love food. I love to eat a lot of food. Despite these things, I MUST get back on track. I have high cholesterol, slightly high blood pressure, I don't look good, and don't feel healthy.

I'm reading everyone's motivating posts. I feel motivated. BUT... I have vacation coming up in August and then bachelorette party weekend and then camping trip with family Labor Day weekend.

Do I try to get back on track full steam ahead now or is that setting myself up for failure. Should I wait until after Labor Day? Is this just an excuse and I have to suck it up and follow the plan over my vacations, etc.?

Thanks for any and all advice!

Start now... and you'll make better choices during those events.

I went out to dinner Sat - melting pot - and sunday - Millers ale house - ate crap and still lost this week because of what WW taught me in the last month. i stayed (mostly) on points during the week, and exercised!!! and all because of WW Chat Icon BUt - in the midest of the crap, I also made good chocies - only one drink, the entire weekend, no appetizer, etc.

I'm going on vacation in aug too - one week at my parents, eating at the restaurants i love that we don't have here, eating my mom's food, yum. I will gain, I'm sure. But I now know how to get back on track

you'll have a month to get some losses - and that will be GREAT motivation for your vacation!

(P.S. there will ALWAYS be an excuse to wait. What will come up in Sept to delay your loss again?)

Start now. Make the changes as you go and then when the vacations or parties come up you will be ok with counting points.

Come join me at the gym! We can do spin together or just work out. Rich made a whole schedule for me.

Re: Need help getting back on track... opinions please!

personally, i've never made good on the "i'll start my new diet/exercise/lifestyle/etc on THIS day"

because i found that all that causes me to do is totally inhale junk food until that day, then when that day comes its like i'm on lock down and i feel so deprived that actually makes me set up to fail.

something i do, is i aim to replace one junk food meal or unhealthy meal a day with a healthy one. say breakfast... then after two or so days i'll add another healthy replacement, then snacks, then dinner, then i'll replace a nighttime treat with warmed almond milk or a raw chocolate treat i make...

and if i don't make it to my daily meal goal, i just start again with that same goal the next day. its gotta be eased into and introduced as a lifestyle... otherwise you'll feel like its a jail sentence and you're being punished. well, that's how i feel anyway. hope that helps!

Definitely start now! Get a good jump and stay on track during the vacation and special events. You can use your flex points for extra indulgences. Good luck!

I would start now or when you can. I know have to be "ready" to commit to a diet. There will always be something on the horizon that you can use as an excuse - I've done this forever.

Just take one day at a time, one meal at a time. You'll get there!

Good luck!!!

Re: Need help getting back on track... opinions please!

I would start now. I was forever putting it off because I had some big event coming up. But I finally woke up one day and said "That's it". I was ready to start my new way of life. I actually think that because you have so much coming up that is even more reason to get back on now. Otherwise the next thing you know you're going to add 5 pounds on from all the events you have. At least if you start now you will minimize your weight gain and you may even lose during the difficult times.

Remember that even in war battles are lost but that doesn't mean the war is lost. You can still win even with losing some battles. Good luck!
