Re: Need help Grieving taxes
You can do it yourself, for free.
You need to call your Town Assessor and see what is required. For the TOH, I needed to gather comps in the area, photographs of my house (interior, exterior and property) and write a blurb explaining why I felt I was being over-taxed and why I should be reassessed.
Submitted the packet to the Town and waited a couple of months for the answer. In the end, we were reassessed and our taxes were reduced by ~$2k

Mark Lewis Tax Grievance in Centereach. I believe that only charge you $75 if your taxes go down.
You can do it yourself! Just talk to someone at Town Hall. It will take a little work, but Mark Lewis actually charges you half of what your taxes go down. I.E. if you taxes decrease by $1k, they will charge you $500.

This is correct. I've done it twice successfully on my own. You do not need to hire an outside expert, not if the facts are on your side.
