Need help-How to make hot dogs for a large crowd (70-80 people)
I am doing a basbeall themed bday for DS's 1st bday party
I wanted to serve hot dogs as a menu option along with a ton of other stuff
There is no BBQ it is in Dec and it is in a hall type room.
We will have sternos. I know techinically hot dogs are cooked and need to be an internal temp 160 to be good.
Do you think I can put them in sternos and heat them that way or should I pan fried them prior and then heat them in sternos?
A hotdog cart rental is not an option I am spending more money on entertainment for the kids...the hot dog rentalwould but our budget over.
I really dont want to knix them it goes with the theme.
Any thoughts suggestions? Anyone try to do it?
TIA!

Now would I boil them prior to the party then heat in a sterno dry
Or heat in a sterno with them sitting in water?

i read the whole thing....but I am still wondering what to do to serve it on a buffet. Should I just have them pre boiled then let them heat in a sterno to stay warm...

Boil them and then put water in the tray with dogs and heat with sternos. That is really what a hot dog cart is...

First, I'd buy the ones with the skin on (natural casing ones). Sabrett and Boars Head make great ones in large packages.
Then I would put up a big stock pot and boil them... Once they are cooked, put them in some warm water in the sterno trays.
because they have the skin on, they should stay crisp. If you get skinless ones, they will be soggy and the water will kill the taste.
