Need help translating something from Latin- now that its translated, what does it mean?
Damus pecunias patrocinium; Non damus pecunias tributum
I tried some online dictionaries but I still don't have anything that makes sense. What i have is ...
We give money, defend; We don't give money, tax.
ETA: Thanks Devon for getting "we give money to defend, not to pay tribute"
What do you think it means?

damus means buck, pecunias means money, patrocinium means protection, tributum means tribute. Mary

Re: Need help translating something from Latin
Maybe we pay for defense, but we don't pay tribute. Is there a context? ETA: It sounds like an anti-tax, anti federal govt thing to me

Re: Need help translating something from Latin
Thanks guys! I appreciate your help. I just can't fingure it out. I found several definitions for Damus also... We give and a buck.
I do think its a tax quote in English translated to latin... I just can't figure out what it is.

Re: Need help translating something from Latin- now that its translated, what does it mean?
to me it means we give money to our govt for them to do their job, not b.c they are our leaders...
something like that.
like, it's an allowance, not a gift.

Right--the idea that taxes are there to pay for services, not simply for politicians' personal gain/use (as they were often used in Rome)

Now what the heck does it mean?
maybe. . .we give money to our government to provide us services (like defense) not to line their own pockets.
