And can take more than a year to get if you don't have a standing relationship with your Hermes SA.

Well yeah, but you better know who you're buying from. (Although there are quite a few reputable Hermes sellers on Ebay.)
Part of the fun of getting a Birkin (or any Hermes bag) is picking out your details: size, type & color leather, type of hardware, how you want your seams/piping.

Ugh, I know the waitlist is crazy (and I'm not getting one anytime soon) but I think it is a terrific investment. That bag is a work of art and really can be an heirloom. I have my heart on the one that is 7k. I don't even need a fancy one!:)
How much is the Kelly Bag? Love that one too.

Again, they vary depending on the type of leather, size, hardware. They average between 5-7K. Obviously the more exotic the leather, the more it's going to cost...croc will cost you more than 7K.
I'm actually digging the Bolide and Plume these days, especially in bold colors.
