need help! what q's to ask when looking for ob/gyn??
ok girls, here's the story: we're relocating to chicago in november ( ) and we're going there next month to select an ob/gyn.
is there a list of questions i should ask when selecting an obgyn? i didn't really have any q's prepared when i selected my current ob/gyn because i knew she wasn't going to handle my delivery.
any help or links you ladies can provide would be greatly appreciated!

I would def ask what hospital they deliver at and then check those out!
I'm moving to NC nect month (with the possibility of coming back to NY a month later-very confusing situation) and there's 2 hospitals i our area-one bad, one good! For me I'd never go to a dr that delivered at the bad hospital no matter how much I liked him!

I would ask:
How many drs are in the practice? If solo who covers for you if you are out of town for visits or emergencies?
How does the office rotation it work when you are pregnant - do you follow with one dr or see them all?
How does their delivery work - does your dr try to deliver you or only the one on call deliver?
Do they share delivery duties with another OB/GYN group? If so who are the other drs and which group do you use?
Do you have a maternal fetal dr on staff (some HR drs also deliver so it is helpful to find a group that also has this so you don't have to go to two places if you have complications)? If I have complications where would you send me for additional monitoring (meaning which HR group do they use if this is important to you)
What hospitals do you deliver?
Do you prefer one over the others? and why?
Which has the best NICU should there be any unforeseen problems? Or I deliver at X hospital and there are complications with the baby will the baby remain at that hospital (are they able to handle it) or will the baby be transported to another facility?
Where do your patients get their routine sonos? bloodwork? other test done? In your office? - do they have a dedicated MD radiologist on staff to do the sonos?
What happens if I have a problem or emergency? Who do I speak to if I call - a MD or NP, Midwife etc.
How long does it generally take to get someone to call me back?
If it is a teaching hospital - what can I expect from the experience? How involved to you let residents, fellows get?
