Need hugs - FURTHER UPDATE
It's official, sports fans. My tubes are CLOSED. Funny thing is, when the doctor was reading me the HSG report, he at first said "your left tube's open, the right tube is closed." Then he said "no wait, oh no I misread it. Both tubes are closed."
I'm not exactly a spring chicken in the age department, but it still bums.
Love and to all who are ttc.
UPDATE: I had a long heart to heart talk with my husband. We agreed that while we won't pursue IVF, we will at least try to open the one tube that's only closed on the tip. If I conceive naturally, praise God. If I don't, at least we won't feel like we just gave up. So I have a question - anyone have this done with success? I believe it's call laprascopy. Thanks in advance girls!!

Re: Need hugs
I was there once . Both my tubes were hydro and i had them removed. Went thru 3 IVF cycles before getting PG with my DD (she is now 6 mos).
Even if I managed to get PG with my DD it still saddens me that I will never be able to have a child the natural way.
Hang in there..........At least you know what the problem is and not an unexplained issue

Re: Need hugs
I'm sorry to hear about the blockages. I'm new to all the terminology, but I'm sure it's not an easy thing to hear. Just have some faith and a little baby dust! Best of luck!

Re: Need hugs
Im so sorry .The news must be devestating to hear
Take some time to let it sink in and accept it, as painful as it is.
Will you go for IVF? Theres no reason to believe your hopes are all gone for a healthy baby....keep that in mind if you can
Wish there was a magic way to make it easier. We are here to listen though.

Thanks so very much.
My tubes are not only closed, they're each closed in their own way. The left tube took in some dye but didn't spill out. The right tube couldn't take any dye in at all. That is apparently called "stenosis" - meaning the whole length of each side of the tube has closed by fusing together.
I'm disappointed, but I've decided I'm not devastated. I'm over 40 and at this point in my life, for ME, I'm not willing to go through IVF.
I appreciate all the hugs and wish lots and lots of baby dust to you all.

Re: Need hugs
Sorry tohear about the bad news! I have questionable tubes. Do you suffer from Fibroids by chance? I only ask b/c I know that at times if there is no spillage, a fibroid could be creating the temporary blockage.

I am so sorry for you - it must have been very depressing to hear.
I have to tell you that I really admire your attitude. Being over 40 myself and a little indecisive about what I am going to do, it's nice to hear someone decide that it just isn't for them.
Good for you and good luck to you and your DH.

Re: Need hugs
I have a friend who has both tubes blocked as well. She got pregnant on her first round of IVF. I just read that you don't want to go that route but I just wanted to let you know that there are cases where it is possible.

Re: Need hugs - UPDATED
Thanks everyone. The support is so much appreciated.
DH is having a hard time with the fact that I don't want to go the IVF route. He's doing better, but it made me feel incredibly selfish. It's not just that my tubes are closed, I've also got intra-uterine scar tissue. It would make IVF that much more diffiult to "take". My left tube is only closed on the tip, and technically, it could be opened, but common sense is telling me the risk of miscarriage is greater with all that scar tissue present.
I've made peace with it. What amazes me is the friends and family I have that are almost INSISTING that I make the effort to get pregnant. The last time I checked, this was MY BODY? It's hard enough, but people can be incredibly insensitive and inappropriate.
Love and lots and lots and lots of babydust to you all!

Im sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel. Family and friends could sometimes be very insensitive and judge when it comes to this topic (and they know nothing about it). I wish things were easier. Take care. and hugs

It's easy for them to say I found that most people have absolutely no clue as to what IVF involves. Even people who say... "Oh, my friend did it, so I know" My SIL said that to me then I showed her my calendar of appts, my track-marks and all of my drugs and needles. That stopped the conversation It is definitely one of those things that unless you go through it yourself you really don't know.
No one, but no one should second guess your decision regarding your body... it's your life and your body. They should respect the fact, that weighing all of the facts, you made a very difficult decision. Sometimes people just $UCK and there are no two ways about it.
I admire your courage to make such a difficult decision.
It's very hard because what you thought your life was going to be, is not. It will be different. Your dream will change.
Fell free to come on and vent whenever you need to.
