Need ideas for outdoor flower pots
I have several pots (about 12") that I put outside in the summer as well as some hanging baskets. Usually I put impatiens or begonias (only one type of flower per pot)but I'm looking for new ideas for this year. I'd like to put a variety of flowers in each pot. Any pics you have would be helpful also. TIA

Re: Need ideas for outdoor flower pots
My pansies did really well in my deck boxes last summer & the flowered all summer. We had petunias in our hanging baskets & they did well too. or you could try geraniums, impatiens, zinnias?

Re: Need ideas for outdoor flower pots
Last year I did some trailing lobelia which held up great through the season
I also did a big pot of sun coleus- this is just planted but it grew so nicely and looked amazing

Re: Need ideas for outdoor flower pots
wave petunias. they hang over the pot. I love how they looked last year. I think I'm going to do them again this year.
The green plant in these pots is called Sweet Potato Vine - Chillin'™ Limeade. Not sure if I'm going to do those again this year. But I do like a Spike plant in the center for height.
This is a Spike Plant.
So it would look something like this. The green in this pot (not mine) is called Creeping Jenny. It grows really nice and I think I'm going to use that this year with my wave petunias & a spike.

I LOVE THAT (minus the spike plant)! I'd love to do something similar to that with my window boxes, where there's fullness from the flowers and some greenery hanging.

I do spikes in my big planters for height and then begonias around them for color.

The Creeping Jenny, does creep a lot. So it will hang nicely over your window boxes. I think it would look really nice. My mom had some in her pot last year and when it died off she just cut it back and left the pot in it's place over the winter. Well the Creeping Jenny came back growing in the grass area where it had creeped onto last year and out of the pot. I didn't think this was a plant that came back, but I guess it is. So you might want to check on that first.
