Need NYC restaurant reccommendation

Can someone reccommend a place for lunch in the theatre district, not too expensive, that's good to go to before a show? TIA!

DH & I usually go to Tony Di Napoli's or Olive Garden when we are in the city for a show.

Re: Need NYC restaurant reccommendation

There is a really cute little place called Basilica on 9th Ave between 45th and 46th.

The best deal in town is at The Hourglass Tavern on 46th street between 8th and 9th. The food is good and the prices are amazing!!!

My favorite place is Rachel's on 9th Ave between 43rd and 44th. I am not sure if they are open for lunch.

Thanks Heidi, i knew you'd have some suggestions!

Thanks everyone. I've been to Carmines a couple of times and it's not really what I'm looking for this time, but I appreciate the suggestions!

We're seeing Avenue Q on the 26th. We're going for our anniversary, which is the next day. It's also a good friends birthday the next day, and his GF is coincidentally getting him tix for Avenue Q also, so we're all going to go to lunch before.

DH and I have been to Langans several time- they have good food and service and a nice prix fixe menu (three courses) for about $25 a person. It's on 47th or 48th.

We ate at St. Andrews on 44th the other day when we saw Spamalot. It was very good- it's a Scottish pub and they had excellent filet mignon. They have a prix fix (three courses) for about $28 but their prix fixe menu has fewer choices than Langans. But the atmosphere is nice and we love the food.

If you like French, Cafe Un Deux Trois is nice. It's also on 44th.

Menupages.com has menus if you want to check them out, I am a bit fussy so I always want to make sure there is something I will eat at any given place. Have fun!

We go to Hourglass often...and the Chilean Place next door, and Danny's Grand Sea Palace across the street....all great restaurants.

Un Deux Trois is a little out of the way for some of the theaters...I remember when I was like 10 my mom and dad took me there after Fiddler on the Roof and I cried because I wanted....a hamburger!! Chat Icon

I love St. Andrews too. It is right across the street from my building. They have great food.

Heidi, I think we're going to try Rachel's on Sunday. I'll let you know what I think. We were going to go to Basilica, but they aren't open for lunch.

I spoke too soon! I just called for a reservation, and they only have 11:30, which is earlier than my friends can get into the city Chat Icon

Re: Need NYC restaurant reccommendation

Oh NO!!!! They have an Italian Place down 9th Ave from Rachel's. I believe it is on the corner of 48th and 9th. It is called Pieasantra (sp?). It is really good too and reasonable priced.

Le Madeline on 9th and 43rd (I think) is a really nice place. It is a little more $$$.

Sophia's on 46th between 8th and 9th has good italian food.

Ariba Ariba(50th and 9th) has good Mexican.

Mi Nidito on 8th between 50th and 51st is my favorite Mexican place.

For a good basic meal (like burgers and stuff) Matt's Grill on 8th between 53 and 54th is good.

There is also a place called Angus (it might be Black Angus) on 44th between broadway and 8th that is suppose to be really good. I think it is a little more like a steakhouse.
