Need opinions about dh b-day
i'm going to try to make dh a surprise party this june. my aunt thinks i should have a small cake for him mom...they both share the same b-day. i asked dh if he had to share a cake. he said yes. he never had his own party. he allways shared a party with his friend who was 2 days before him. i feel dh should have this day to himself. i want t he attention to be on him. would it be wrong if i don't have a small c ake for his mom. the party won't be on the actual b-day

is it going to be all of his family there? or jsut his friends and parents?
if alot of his family- then i would get a separate small cake for his mom. Guys usually don't mind sharing the bday spotlight.... and it would probably make her very happy, which would in turn make him happy

I agree too. Or maybe tell his mom what you are planning and explain that you realize it's her birthday too, but you'll celebrate it on another day bc you want this party to be for just DH. Maybe you can ask her to help plan in so she does not feel excluded further.

it's a different situation than before
before he had to share a cake with his friend
this is his mother
there should be a small recognition of her birthday
at my 30th b-day last year, my dad's b-day is 2 days before mine and we had a cake for him.

I think it depends if you've already celebrated his mom's birthday (since you said that the party wasn't going to be on their actual birthday) - if you've already celebrated her birthday together, I think it's ok not to acknowledge it. If you haven't, honestly, I think it's a slap in the face and hurtful to her not to acknowledge it at all.

I also think you should have a cake for his mom. I've always shared a b-day w/ a friend and I am happy about it I think it will make her feel good.

If it is not on her birthday then I don't see anything wrong with not having a cake for her. You can have cake for her a different day.
