Re: Need opinions on Nesconset

I like Nesconset a lot!
Some of the houses are really reasonable and some are more expensive....depending on the size of the house, and the area.
DH's parents live there in a really cute neighborhood.

Susan just moved there recently - you can try to FM her

Re: Need opinions on Nesconset

My only gripe with Nesconset is 347. IMO, that road is a horror show and there are a lot of reasonable and high-priced homes that either back that road or are just off it.

For me, that's a huge negative.

Otherwise, it's a good SD...

Re: Need opinions on Nesconset

MY SIL lives there. For 569 she is probably getting a center hall colonial which is what SIL has. Beautiful area. 347 can be annoying but what are you going to do. SIL loves the school district

Re: Need opinions on Nesconset

Part of Nesconset is Smithtown SD and part is Sachem SD. THe more reasonable homes are sachem SD.

Re: Need opinions on Nesconset

We live in Nesconset and it is absolutely beautiful. There are a few areas that are Sachem schools, but most is Smithtown. We live on Southern Blvd. and we are ten minutes from the St. James train station and maybe fifteen from Ronkonkoma. We actually use Ronkonkoma more cuz they have more trains. The area is beautiful, very quiet and the people are very nice. We rent, but from what I have seen the taxes are not too bad and if your friend is looking at a house for $569K it's probably a decent size. The housing here is expensive, but the houses are big. One sold up the block from us...four bedroom, two bath, living room, formal dining room, finished basement and Huge piece of property for $525K.
We would have loved to buy here, just couldn't afford the houses. Chat Icon

I grew up there and teach in Smithtown. I loved the schools growing up and the area. The schools are great! FM me if you have any questions.

I grew up there also. It's a great town. Unfortunately, a little too expensive for DH and I these days to buy a house there!

Re: Need opinions on Nesconset

I just moved to Nesconset (as Palebride mentioned) and I love it! We live in the Smithtown SD, which I personally love. We live in a 4BR splanch colonial, with a LR, den, DR, EIK, 3bath, fireplace, heated inground pool, inground sprinklers, etc. and the house was VERY reasonably priced. I also love the fact that we're so close to everything (shopping-wise.) We looked in almost every neighborhood in Suffolk and we felt we got the most for our money here. FM for more details.

If you live in the area, there a a few ways to head west and not go near 347...I agree with the traffic problem there, so I use Townline to get to the Northern State.
