Need opinions on swing set

We have been looking for a swing set for DS for weeks but couldn't find one we really liked, probably because we just really sure what we wanted. Now we've got two good options that are totally opposite of one another. They will work out to approximately the same price and are both vinyl swing sets. The first is a basic set - a couple swings, tire swing, slide, tower, rockwall - nice small, compact set. The other set is HUGE - about 45 feet long and 15 feet wide. But it has so much to do DS would never get bored. Thing is, it would take up most of our backyard and there wouldn't be much room for anything else. The price is a real steal on this one because otherwise we'd never be able to afford it.

So what do you think - get the basic set that takes up little room or the gigantic set that will swallow up the yard? Remember price is not an issue because they are the same. Thank you so much for your input!!!

This is a tough choice. When you say the big one will take up most of the yard and there won't be much space left-- will your DS still be able to run around, kick a ball, roll on the grass, etc. if you get the big one?

We have a fairly large backyard, so yes, he will be able to run around a play a bit. But the big set will basically take over the yard - it will be the first thing you notice. DS also plays in the front yard also, maybe even more than the back.

Well, if you think he'd still have enough room to run around and be active back there, I think I'd go for the big swingset, if it's something he'll grow with and will last a long time. If it's just a matter of you feeling like it looks huge, I wouldn't let that influence me...I'd go for function & practicality. Chat Icon

I think it is more that I would think it looks huge - I'd look out my back windows and that's all I would see. But I think even I would have fun on that because there's just so much to do.

We just bought a set from Creative Playthings. We bought what we thought our girls will grow with. It's a huge set and will take up one side of the yard, but we decided beforehand that, that area would be for them.

Will DC outgrow the 1st swingset at some point? If so, and for the same price, get the bigger one.

This is why we're planning on getting a bigger one. I don't want to end up having to buy 2.

I would buy the smaller one. I would rather have yard left then an enormous swingset. And what if he hates it and never uses it. Then you are stuck with this huge thing taking up your backyard. I think the smaller one sounds perfect and I can't see how he would get bored of it.

I actually bought a smaller one but there was a HUGE price difference. I just spent $100 after my coupon. It will be replaced in a few years with a big one.

Re: Need opinions on swing set

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad we're able to get him any swing set, but I hate to waste money so I'm trying to pick what's best. I appreciate all the opinions.
