Need opinions on thie 1st Bday Invite I created (PIC)

I am at my wits end. I do not know if I want to print these myself or just scrap the whole photo progression invite and do regular (non-photo) invites.

DH said today "Why does it have to be a craft project? Can't you just buy the fill-in invitations?" While I have nothing wrong with the fill-in invites, I wanted something different.

TIA!

Honest Opinions please. Oh, the last pic on the bottom row (where there are two of the same pic) will be replaced by a photo I take in a couple weeks, before sending the invites.

ETA: I initially had the background black, but opted to try blue.

I also think it's really cute! The new font is easier to read.

I would only say maybe a lighter blue with dark gray writing but that may seem too babyish. I guess I'd have to see.

Good Job!!!!

I like the second one better bacause its easier to read. Can you make a border on the top(above the pictures and bottom (below the pictures)? to me it looks ike parts of the pictures are cut off when there is no border all the way around.

See, pmpkn087 assisted in making the original into a Power Point, which I made changes on and saves as a jpeg. I then uploaded it to Shutterfly to post on here, and it cut off the the pics.

I think it's cute-- great job! I agree, the 2nd font is easier to read on the computer, is it easier to read printed too I wonder?

About to do a test print now. I liked the fun almost scripty look on the first font.

Any suggestions on a different non-boring but legible font?

Jill,

I TOTALLY LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I think I like the first font better.

I agree its hard to read, but I think the second font takes something away from the kinda classiness of the card.

make sense?

Thank you!!

Makes TOTAL sense. I did not want a "generic" font, but didn't want anything too feminine either.

The first font is def. too hard to read. There has to be another cute one.

Also - how about putting the blue at the top and bottom (above and below the pics)

You did a great job though!

Thanks Diana, I am going thru all the fonts on my computer now (OMG, there are so many).

There is blue above/below the pics, it just cut off in shutterfly.

I think the blue is too bright. I would use the second font with a different font for Troy Sebastian's 1st Birthday.

I think it's prefectly fine to mix fonts. For boy's I like PetraScript.

If you're ready to pull your hair out, I can email you a photoshop template for a boy that you pop the photos in (or I can if you're not familiar with it).

eta. I also love the photos you picked & that you have them all in B&W

I love the layout but I think the blue is too bright. Maybe a lighter blue. I like the second font better then the first.

GREAT job jill! i also like the 2nd font better. maybe you can use the 2nd font for most of it and use the 1st font for his name and first bday like barb said.

if your really set on the 1st font though, have you tried making it larger? would it fit larger?

editted to add: he's changed soooo much in the pics! i LOVE the 6th pic with the hat!Chat Icon

Re: Need opinions on thie 1st Bday Invite I created (PIC)

really cute! As far as the font goes, I think mixing the fonts is fine too - just keep playing around and find 2 that work together. I'd be most concerned with the info of the party being easiest to read, not the poem. The poem is adorable but you want to make sure they have no confusion with the date/time/etc. I find some fonts make certain #'s or letters look alike.

LOL @ DH's craft project comment. I am having a flashback to my DD's 1st birthday invites...I must have done 15 different mock ups to get it perfect. No store bought invites here either Chat Icon

Also I'd make the line with his Troy Sebastian's 1st Birthday larger. If you're using a 14 pt font elsewhere, make that one 18 or 20 pt.

I would put the beginning poem in a script font like you had...but one that is more legible.

Is it possible to add a border or polka dots...I feel like it is missing something.
