need opinions.. re; sleeping on holidays for kids...
On Christmas eve dd took her normal 1 hours nap. Then we went to my aunts at about 5. By 630 she was gettign tired( normal bedtime is 7) SO said ill try and get her to sleep in her stroller and since she is bog she doesnt sleep in there long she will probably wake up in an hour or SO anyway if not ill wake her for gitfs. Well after dinner I went to check on her and she woke up at 8. SO she was up being very good but you could tell she was tired opening her gifts and playing with them./ We leave at about 1030 or SO she doesnt sleep on the way home( only minutes drive) then she goes to bed at around 11 ish and is up at 3 SCREAMING SO I took her in with me and she had a VERY RESTLESS sleep. So yesterday before guests arrived she took a TWO hour nap which is unheard of for her. The she was up but you again could tell she was tired. At about 545 I took her in to see if she would go down for the night. She was going off but.. My DH niece and Nephew ages 6 and almost 3 kept coming in to her room.. AND NO ONE STOOPED THEM. Anyway SO finally at about 615 she was out.
After everyone leaves dh is saying its ridiculous she way in bed SO early . I said it was 45 minutes before her normal bedtime etc etc. He said there s no need on holiday. I said yes that fine but last night was her night to be up and obvioulsy she didn't do wells o why torture her. His last words before I went bed were... " I hope she wakes up at 3 and keep you up". REAL NICE RIGHT..
Well needless to say she woke up at 515 and then came and slept til715 with me.BTW 515 is her normal wake up time.
He keeps arguing with me saying if she's tired thats fine as long as she is not misbehaving. I disagree.why torture the kid two nights in a row?
THOUGHTS?
Sorry SO long

How old is she?
In any case, I say a baby sleeps when they need to sleep, regardless of what day it is. So, if she falls asleep at 5 or 6 in the evening, just as the festivities are starting, that's okay with me.

For us bedtime goes out the window on the holidays. Unless Kerri is very irritable I let her stay up and spend time with people who don't see her often.....both nights she went to bed two hours after her normal bedtime....no problem.

I can see both points of view, to be honest. On the one hand, if she's tired, then she should sleep, but on the other hand, it's a holiday adn people are excited to see her, etc, etc. I do not, however, agree with the the way your DH handled himself, though

I do not agree with what your dh said and if that was me, he would be up with her if she had woken up at 3am
With my dd, if she is tired, she is going to sleep. I am not going to make her stay up late just to please other people, babies need their sleep
My dd usually goies down at 8pm, last night she was up until 9 cause we had company but I tried to put her down at 8 and she was not tired

she is 15 months old.
I know Dh was being a real JERK with his comments. UGHH then this morning when i said i kno you arent going to admit that i was right that she was soo tired sicne she slept a total of 13 hours( 11 in her bed, 2 in mine). He said i never said she wasnt tired just said she wasnt mishaving..umm how do you know you were biust playing PS3.

I agree with you on the fact that if a baby is tired they should go to sleep. I never break our night routine. Her bedtime is her bedtime and I make sure we stick to it. I don't stay out later than that time. I'm a little OCD but that's besides the point.
