Need packing help for Hawaii...
DH & I are leaving next Saturday for Hawaii. It's our delayed honeymoon. I am trying to pack and having some difficulties. I don't want to overpack.
What do I definitely need? What don't I need? How much should I bring? What did you bring?
Thanks!!!

I brought too much.
Think about what you'll do each day and each night. How fancy is your hotel? DH and I stayed at three places and the clothes people wore at each hotel varied quite a bit. For example, people at the JW Marriott were dressed noticably nicer than people at the Hilton.
You can't go wrong with a few floral print dresses, cover-ups for walking through the hotel to the beach or pool, a light jacket for the evening.
You may also want to check with your airline about their weight limits per piece of luggage.
Have fun!

Thank you! We aren't staying at any fancy hotels. Outrigger on Oahu, Hilton on Big Island and Kaanapali Beach Hotel on Maui.
I think I am ok. I still feel like I overpacked.
Do I need anything super nice for DH? Shirt and tie?
I checked with the airlines for baggage restrictions. Thanks!!!!

Re: Need packing help for Hawaii...
When I went to HI there was no shirt and tie for guys...it was all Aloha-wear or Aloha-casual...so polo shirts or casual button down shirt with shorts and sandals almost everywhere, unless you have plans to go to a really really nice, fancy place.

Re: Need packing help for Hawaii...
We went in '05 on our honeymoon to Maui and Kauai and even the best restaurants were casual. For example, when we went to Roy's, Mama's Fish House, the Beach House, etc. my husband wore shorts, button down short sleeve shirts and nice sandals. Polo shirts are probably fine. We looooooved that even the best place were casual. It is such a relaxing atmosphere.

Thanks so much! I packed a few dresses for me (sundresses) and polos and short sleeves shirts for DH. We really don't want to eat anywhere fancy just nice casual places. Thanks for your help. I wanted to make sure what I was packing was good.

I'm so jealous. I want to go back!
You definately need bathing suits -- DH and I parked ourselves in a hammack for 4 days straight. I brought 3 bathing suits for my 10 day trip I think. Bring a few pairs of capris, a skirt or dress, and one or two sweaters.
DON'T buy/bring the Hawaii entertainment book. We never used ours.
DO bring sunscreen and every possible toiletry you can think of....big markup in Hawaii.
Don't forget your camera!
If you're going to Maui and doing the road to Hana, get a convertible. It was worth it!

YES be careful, DH and I over packed and had to pay extra as our bag was too heavy.
I am an overpacker so I cant help too much with that.
I will say bring a few bathing suits, on semi dressy outfit for both you and DH but overall Hawaii is casual!!

Thanks so much for the tips!
I think we are doing things right according to your suggestions. We are definitely going to do the road to Hana and we have a convertible reserved already!
Thanks!!!
