Re: Need PayPal Advice ASAP
did you login from the link on your e-mail, or did you go to paypal and login?
go to paypal and login to see if the charge is there - it might be a scam to get you to give your credit card info.

Re: Need PayPal Advice ASAP
I would check with your credit card company and see if it REALLY went through...it could be a phishing email.

Re: Need PayPal Advice ASAP
Its probably a scam. I got one too. Actually a few. You dont have to do anything. After the first one, paypal reported it wasnt from them and to just delete anything further. Paypal like Ebay address's all emails in your name.
so where the email part is it will say "Dear ....your anem if it doesnt, its not fromt hem.
was YOUR address on it?

Re: Need PayPal Advice ASAP
all the info was in an email. email appeared just as all my previous paypal email receipts have and yes, my name was present but not my address.
i logged into payapl and the charge doesn't not appear and the CC company does not have a posting for the charge.
how does this happen? i am going to check w/ the CC company again on moday and the company where the item was purchased.

Recently I started getting some that were a question about an item someone said I had listed. all clever scams...usually nothing is actually true( like getting money out)
your name was on it??? In the actual email???

My friend got scammed by one of these last year - someone in europe stole a lot of money from her account.
I'm glad you didn't fill out the online form!

Re: Need PayPal Advice ASAP
called paypal and they said that their emails will NEVER contain a link. this one did and that is what i clicked on to dispute the claim. thankfully, i never completed the form. i forwarded the email to [email protected] and changed my password. received a reply from paypal stating the following,
"Thank you for bringing this suspicious email to our attention. We can confirm that the email you received was not sent to you by PayPal. The website linked to this email is not a registered URL authorized or used by PayPal. We are currently investigating this incident fully. Please do not enter any personal or financial information into this website."
thanks SO much for all of your help

I was going to post this....PayPal will never include a link. They will tell you to go to the website (without a link) and to sign on to your acct.

oh thank god you didnt complete the claim!!!! Just happened to me this morning too!!!! I called them right away, they said if you did go in and answer those questions your identity and banking/CC info would have been stolen!!!!!!
she said a page would have come up that would look exactly like thiers asking personal information.
I too sent it to [email protected].
Freaking crazy!!!!
My "supposed" purchase was from ebay for a forever 21 strapless brown/pink salsa dress LOL, I was like W-T-F.
She also said paypal would always address us by our name not our email address. On mine they addressed me by my email address. Scary , it looks so legit too!!! thank goodness for my security alert coming up when I too clicked on dispute this claim. Funny I dont remember ever seeing that too on my purchases. I will look out for it now.

scary, huh? i did click on the link but did not fill out the form. i was advised to change my password and run a virus scan. my "charge" was over $300.
the company name and info was listed as well. should i call them or do you think they involved in the scan as well. it looks like their site is genuine.

Re: Need PayPal Advice ASAP
glad you got it figured out - and ebay and paypal always address you by your name that is a good way to tell if the emails are actually from them
