Need some advice and suggestions
We are painting the kids bedrooms and the living room and having the floors refinished in the living room and getting the bedroom rugs cleaned before we move in. We don’t take possession until Tuesday the 26th afternoon. We want to move in Labor Day weekend. We are having a hard time coordinating what to do first. Refinishing the floor takes up a lot of time and will create a lot of dust. How should we do things?

Always paint before doing the floors. That way if anything gets on the floor it will be on the old wood and not the refinished wood.
I would paint, clean rugs than refinish floors.
Good luck and congratulations!

Thank you! The rug guy suggested doing the rugs after the floor b/c of the dust.

We are doing our carpets today. We had the floors done last week. The floors were finished with a dust containment unit and the house is still very dusty.

since doing the floors does create a lot of dust, you should paint several days ahead of time, so the dust doesn't completely stay on the walls. You will need to wipe down the walls after, no matter what. We had dust for awhile. Keep in mind if they don't take up your base molding, you will have to paint those, because the stain does get on there. That was our problem, so we had to paint the molding again. I would leave the carpets for last because of all the dust. GL! And congrats on the new house!
