Need some help from the Moms - LIF Parenting GTG!
Hi ladies!
Looking to plan a GTG for later this year but would like some suggestions on where to have it. The last place we had one closed. And I want to be able to have a large number of people at the same time. Last time we had 3 separate sessions which was too hectic.
Was also thinking about maybe having one outdoors at a park or something similar.
What are some places that you would suggest for an LIF Parenting GTG?
Thanks for any help!
Kim

What about at White Post Farms? Its pretty centrally located and can hold a pretty big number of people.

A GREAT place to have it would be the Holtsville Ecology Center.
- outdoor area very close to playground - no max capacity since it is outdoors - pavilion area covered - picnic tables provided - grassy areas to play - very inexpensive ($100 or less for 4 hours) - free zoo area

That does look nice, but the website says best for ages 2-12, and I think we should keep options open for mommies with younger DCs

I agree. I went there to meet some LIF mommies and while the kids had a GREAT time it was awful trying to keep my 18 month old from getting mowed down by 6 year olds.
I love the Holtsville Ecology center.

Holtsville is great for the zoo/picnic area; but the playground is definitely made for older kids 5-12; there's high points with open areas, little ones could fall through.
Once Upon a Treetop is also nice (inside)
or
One of the bouncy type of places
or
Venetian Shores in Lindenhurst (water park area) & there's a picnic area/lunch place.

Can Ron just send us on a cruise? His job may even be easier for a few days if he just sends us all someplace where we can't get online. It's a small price to pay for a few days of peace.

I completely agrree wih this. The playground is one where you have to stay WITH your child. Too many open areas to fall through.
I will even offer Krazy Kidz in Medford. More of a relaxed place. I know it's in Suffolk, but it's right off the L.I.E.
I can easily get a deal with Krazy Kidz. Any kids too small to climb the structure have a small play area and don't have to pay admission.

Over the summer, they built a new part of the playground which is much smaller and easier for the little ones to climb (and parents to assist)

We were both there over the summer, and after, and their playground is still not suitable for toddlers.
If I went to a GTG, I'd like to have the opportunity to talk with other moms while supervising my kids. Being on the playground structure with him isn't very social for me. And I'm a social butterfly.
OOH! Pain meds are kicking in!

Very true for this place as well! Very clean and large enough to hold everyone. TONS of table and room to spread out! Good for all ages. (pssst....games for Mommy and Daddy to play too )

I second the Ecology Center but can you PLEASE have it on a weekend? There are so many of us working moms that miss out on many GTGs.

Sweetbriar Nature Center?
No playground, but lots of open space, and very mellow to walk around and lets the kids run/babies crawl while in sight.

I LOVE Holtsville. Haven't been to Krazy Kids, but, hear all positive things about it.
There's also Hecksher Park in Huntington.

I agree. A bunch of us had a GTG last summer and the kids (all between 18 months & 2 years of age) could NOT use the playground without a parent literally holding their hand to prevent a nasty fall.
