Is $100 for alterations too much to spend a simple hem and taking in the top of a BM dress?

I feel like it's a rip off.

Does anyone know a good taylor?

I am not cheap, but I feel like that is a lot of money.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

that does sounds a little high to me. I can't recommend anyone, but I would def try to find someone else. a hem should cost no more than $25 IMO.

just thought of someone - I have had some suits hemmed at Frank's Oakdale cleaners. DH also had a suit altered there. they do a good job. I think the seamstress is there on Wednesdays.

for a simple hem you don't need her to be there, but if you need the top of the dress taken in too, I would want her to do it.

I'm using a seamstress who works for Bridal Reflectons in Massapequa. She works out of her house in Wantagh.

Lina
2496 Wantagh Ave (south of Merrick)
516-679-9408

She hasn't said how much yet, I go back for a fitting tonight.

I don't know if you're anywhere near Holbrook, but, if you are go to Joy Cleaners on Main Street. The woman who does the tailoring is a true artist. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

I'm paying $45 for a 3-layer hem (lining, tulle and top satin) and $28 for taking it in on top.

I thought that was high but I'm glad it's not $100.
