Need some Ideas

Anyone have any good recommendations or suggestions on activities to do with a toddler who has PDD NOS?

Also if anyone has any good book recommendations as well.

I find that on the days that my LO doesn't have ABA therapy, I have to spend some time doing activities or else she gets bored and starts getting frustrated and acts out.

I have tried everything from reading books, watching DVDs, music and dance, playing with her toys, play doh and coloring.
Since its getting cold, we can't go outside to much. Just wondering if there are any other activities or toys to help my LO grow and understand as well as keep her busy. she will be 2.

Good luck! DS is three and I have a house filled with toys that are unplayed with. I keep buying new toys in the hope that I will discover one that he plays with for more than 30 seconds. The only thing that is holding his attention for longer periods of time right now are duplo legos, blocks, and cars. He loves most kinds of crafts. I also buy a lot of those foam stickers. He likes peeling off the paper and sticking them on things. We also do a lot of baking. He peels garlic for me. We do a lot of fine motor skill tasks. We have been peeling carrots and potatoes. I like the color wonder stuff. The only other thing he is interested in is his leappad that we bought for him last year, which he lost interest in and recently has been playing with again. I just bought him a few more games for it.

It's difficult to find out what they are really into. I know that with the holidays coming up DS will be getting a lot of new toys. I plan on making them last through the winter. Open a couple of things now and then a new toy every other week or so until they are gone. I take DS to the library a lot to play, or to the pet store to look around. I know you mentioned not going out too much, but so stiles an hour out of the house is just enough.

Elefun, lucky ducks game, playskool gears, tomy gearation, jack in the box, and effect toys...etc things that stay on a track like wooden bead games, wind up toys for joint attention, basketball hoop, bean bag games ( my dd had very low tone /strength in her hands so we had to keep that in mind when finding toys that she could keep up with) I create sensory bins with beans, black beans with Halloween type art supplies, or brown beans with fall type things , or white beans with holiday themes objects etc. Water toys are fun too just use a big bin a tablecloth on the floor.

Books-Go Away Big Green Monster, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Eric Carle Head to Toe (or pretty much all Eric Carle Books), Karen Katz Books, Tickle Monster, I can go on and on about books :)

Music-Patty Shukla !!!, Greg and Steve,

Tents, tunnels, stepping stones, instruments,

The Out of Sync Child Has Fun has some creative ideas for household things

Feel free to FM me because I can obviously go on and on about this :)

Not sure where you live but if you're on LI, have you considered a membership to the LICM? We practically lived there when DD was little!
You have some good suggestions here...how about shaving cream, rice table, etc. for sensory stuff? We used a tray and hid little animals and stuff in the shaving cream. Finger painting is also popular!
