Need some quick advice please
Well, not all that quick......
I have had three back to back leave replacements in the same district this year. There is a possibility that somebody in my discipline area will be retiring next year in June.
I have an invitation to a placement fair in NYC tomorrow. If I am offered a position do I:
a) take the position and run with it. I am an English teacher and these positions are tough to get.
b) hang around for another year in the district I am in and see if I can get a Long Island position next year.
Also, when will Long Island Districts be calling for interviews???

Re: Need some quick advice please
Okay, a few views and no advice. Is it because the answer is simple? I should def take a full time position over subbing, even if the full time is in Bklyn, right?
I dont' know what to do. My family is pushing me to stay in the Long Island district and wait it out. I don't know if I can. Right now my schedule is:
Sunday CVS 9-4
Monday to Thursday school 7-2:45, CVS 3-10 (yes, you read correctly. 15 minutes to get to the second job)
Friday School 7-2:45, tutoring 3-4
Saturday Huntington Learning Center 9-2
This is just so I can survive. We don't live about our means in any way and having three jobs is not so I can spend. I need all three to pay the bills.

Re: Need some quick advice please
me personally it can't hurt to go to the NYC job fair and if you get offered something, TAKE IT!
And if something comes up for next year, then you can always accept it, right? I've learn a lot of "maybes" can lead to nothings! Why chance it?!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Re: Need some quick advice please
I would take a NYC position.
Honestly, other than a few surprises, I think most LI districts are reaching the end of interviewing. Most really like to see demo lessons, and there are just a few teaching days left. That's not to say that positions don't open in the summer, but I think the bulk of positions are settled for next year.

Re: Need some quick advice please
Thanks ladies!
I know I am an adult, but my family still gives me a hard time about it. They are so worried about my safety, etc. I just want to teach, I don't care where I am. I am not afratid of going to the City. I have always gone for fun, why not for work???
