Need some tips on transitioning from the swing to the crib.
I didn't have to do this with the first one. She slept anywhere, just not for more then 4 hours. DS is now sleeping in his swing because that has been the only way to get more then 2 hours from him. How do I transition to his crib? Do I leave him in the swing for the time being? He's 11 weeks old.

Re: Need some tips on transitioning from the swing to the crib.
I transitioned Ryan at 11wks and if I were you I'd do it now - it's not fun! But, it could be better for you (I had to switch from swing/miracle blanket combo) to crib. Now, at 14wks, he is just starting to do well in the crib. He never put up a fight going in at night, but he didn't sleep for stretches so we went backwards for a bit. Now I'm getting 8:30PM to 2-3AM, I nurse him and he's back down til morning.
Good luck!

Re: Need some tips on transitioning from the swing to the crib.
we transitioned DS from the swing to the crib at 5 or 6 months old.
we started with napping in the crib with a pillow under the matress so it was reclined, then we eventually took the pillow out and used the CIO method for a little while,,, it didnt last long he was able to soothe himself within minutes.
my friends used the swing until their DD was 11 months old, and moved her to a crib at a year, and at 2 years she is in a big girl bed.
when DS was in the swing we got 7pm - 7am, that was at 2 1/2 months (prior to that he was in the bassinet)
and now that he is in the crib (10 1/2 months) we get 8am - 5:30am/6am

Re: Need some tips on transitioning from the swing to the crib.
right before we transitioned......we let him sleep in the swing but didn't turn it on so he would wean off the rocking motion. we just kind of gave the swing a push so it would rock slowly but then stop. Once he slept in it overnight while it wasn't moving, we were able to put him in the crib without worrying about the lack of rocking motion. We did deal with him waking and not knowing where he was for awhile. So we had to have him CIO (but that wasn't until about 5 mos) so that we could put him down awake and soothe himself to sleep. HTH
