need suggestions - a co-worker's dog died...
because i work in an office where people can bring their dogs, we are in the position of really getting to know our co-workers pets.
one of our favorite guests died yesterday - gunnar was 15 and my colleague is understandibly sad about it.
we all want to send something to his house in sympathy - but we're not sure what. we were thinking a gift basket - but is that appropriate?
what do you guys suggest?

A gift basket sounds very nice. It's really great of you guys to extend your sympathy that way.

A gift basket is a great idea!! Many people feel that their pets are a part of the family, so I would treat this the same way you would if your co-worker had lost a family member.

Definitely, I've sent Harry and David gift baskets and they have a lot of options and price ranges.
I think that's very nice of all of you.

When a coworker of mine's dog died, I got him an Edible Arrangement cause he isn't really a cookie person, and he really really loved it. Most of all he really appreciated that someone took the time to send condolenses and acknowledge how important a pet can be.

what luck - we actually found something specifically for the loss of a pet - it was a basket of comfort foods and a picture frame all wrapped in ribbon with paw prints on it.

That's awesome. I know when my kitty passed all I ate for a week afterwards was comfort food. So that's a great idea.
