Need surprise party ideas
I'm having a surprise 65th birthday party for my mom in August. It will be in my backyard, probably about 75 guests.
I'm looking for some unique ideas for a theme- not over the hill or anything about being old, my mom would hate that
Im trying to figure out a theme that will be special and can be pulled off at an outdoor party.
Any ideas?

Does she have any interests or hobbies? Maybe a decade theme-- the year she was born.

Cute idea, love it! Maybe to even extend the tea party idea you can make it a "grown up" vision of Alice in Wonderland. Might be really cute.
How about theming everything from the decade she was born in. You can make snacks/desserts that were popular at the time. Play music from that era. Print and post up relevant events from that time period, popular movies, popular celebs, etc.
You can also just pick an elegant color scheme and let that guide your decorating. Maybe a Tiffany blue party as an example. You can serve everything on fancy platters and play up the glam Audrey Hepburn thing.
Since it is in your backyard you can always do the luau thing too. Make frozen cocktails, play all that island steel drum music.
Check Pinterest, I bet they have a ton of theme ideas for adult birthday parties.
