Need your advice re play yard
When we went to my IL's place in Florida we rented DD a play yard, among other things. She LOVED it. So, I immediately ordered one for our house b/c I need a place I can put her for a few minutes while I walk away to answer the phone, do laundry, etc.
Well, she HATES ours. It's b/c she can't see me when I leave the room and in Florida we were in one large room and someone was always there with her. Anyway, it kills me because the MINUTE I leave she freaks out crying and yelling "Ma Ma Ma Ma"...I need your advice...is it ok to let her cry for awhile and hope that she gets used to it? I really want to use it and it's just a waste if I go to her the minute she starts crying. I just hate to hear her so upset. Ugh..any advice??
Here's a pic of the play yard.. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Need your advice re play yard
It's totally okay to let her cry for a minute or two, so long as you know she is safe. Is she mobile? can you put her on the floor rather than the PNP?

Re: Need your advice re play yard
Put some toys in their and see what happens. DD starts that the minute I put her in the exersaucer and turn around to go out the room. Once she doesn't see me anymore she is ok and plays with the toys.

Thanks though

Re: Need your advice re play yard
DS used to do this when he was younger, it was a phase and it went away. As long as she is ok I think it is ok to let her cry for a few minutes

Re: Need your advice re play yard
Just stick with it and let her cry a little bit and soon she will adapt and just accept that its her time to play and mommys time to do some things.

Re: Need your advice re play yard
let her cry for a few minutes. DO you play "peek a boo" with her? they say that teaches them that even though they cannot see you , you are still there
When I leave the room and dd starts freaking, I will say or yell (depending on how far away I am ) that "mommy is here", "mommy will be right back"...etc

Re: Need your advice re play yard
Lily does the same thing. We have a pack-n-play set up in one room for her to play in when we need to do something. I'll put her in it, and she's fine. But the second I leave the room she starts crying (she only says mama when she's crying not when she's happy, by the way). But after a minute or two, she realizes she has toys there and she's fine. Until I come back into the room, and then she wants me. I'd say to let her cry for a few seconds, see what happens. if she's crazy and won't stop, then you might need to try something else.
