Need your opinion re decorating/color scheme
I currently have a brand new light beige/oatmeal recliner sofa that my husband refuses to ever give up lol. With that said, I want to change our LR look a bit and incorporate the color red. I have a big traditional oak entertainment center (pic below) and our wall color is zen green.
I want to change the wall color to a tan color, add a red accent wall in the dining room area (dining room furniture pic below), get two red accent chairs (pics below), get two matching oak end tables (pics below) and two red accent lamps (pics below). I will add some red throw pillows on the sofa to create a matching contrast.
My dilemma is that I am not sure if the traditional oak entertainment center and the red goes together...should I just maye stick to the greens and other neutral colors?
Now looking at it all together I think it kind of clashes...I think red is a modern color, whereas, the entertainment center is a traditional style...and so are the end tables. Maybe I'll just get different lamps and different accent chairs.
But I'm curious what you think!
Thanks! Thanks!

No I think it can go together. My house is kind of county and the red goes really nice with tan stuff. Let me see if I can find a picture.

However, the chair and lamp that you posted is very modern/sleek, and I don't know if it would go with the style that you have already.
Definately yes to the color combination, but I don't know about the styles.

Thats exactly what I'm thinking...maybe I'll stick to the color, and find more traditional seating and lamps...or maybe I'll sell my entertainment center and get a more modern looking one...

yea --- bc i think it's mostly the entertainment center that is more traditional looking. i think that the couch could go either way, as could the end tables.
is your overall home decorated more traditionally or more modern? do you have an open floor plan where this room is connected with others?

Re: Need your opinion re decorating/color scheme
I have chairs shaped like that but all my furniture is pretty modern, espresso stained wood. The lamp is also fairly modern. I love the red color and think it can go well with the oak, but I think you should look for less modern pieces.
I think you can combine styles, and I think the chairs would work, but I think the lamp might push it to be too drastic of a difference

I think you should do at least one accent wall with red paint. perhaps behind the sofa??
even with red accents, so much beige can wash out a room.
I just watched this very topic on HGTV...it think it was color correction.
what color is your floor?
