Nervous about hair color, what do you think? [pics]
I've never had my hair professional colored before. In order to make it lighter in the past, I've had to use the lightest blond that Loreal sells to make a dent.
Here is my natural color from over 10 years ago:
It was taken at night, but it was very light - almost a strawberry blond.
Here are pics taken about a month ago:
Here's the thing... I'm lazy. I tend to wait too long between colorings and told my salon girl that, so she recommended highlights instead.
I want something natural looking. Here is what I was thinking:
What do you think? Do you have any advice for a first-timer? I'm a little nervous about it. Thanks for reading!

Re: Nervous about hair color, what do you think? [pics]
i think the pic you posted of the color you want is amazing but it's going to be hard for it to look natural unless you get a single process as well as highlights. you'll want to go a shade or two lighter for the single process and then only 1-2 shades lighter for the highlights (and possibly lowlights) for it to look as natural as possible.
if you were only getting highlights, in order for it to look natural, i don't think you're going to be able to get your hair as light as the pic of the model's hair. and a single process won't give you that depth of color.
other than that i think it's a gorgeous choice and you are so pretty! you're going to look great!

Okay, I have no advice but I saw this and thought of the Bruce Springsteen song "Red Headed Woman."
Go listen to it if you don't know it already

Oops! I didn't mean that I wanted the same color as the posted pic, I meant it as an example of how to do the highlights so that they looked natural, not chunky or obvious. Although I think it's a great shade, I'm looking to give the illusion that it's lighter without having to constantly do my roots.
When you say a single process - do you mean an all-over color? Sorry, I'm not really familiar with the terms.
Thanks for your compliments

I had never heard it before but I just YouTubed it and I love it! It really is true... need a redheaded woman to get a dirty job done.
And by the way, the guy next to me was an ex bf and a huge Springsteen fan. It amazes me that he never told me about that song!!
eta: take note of what is on my right wrist.

oh! okay i see what you mean.
yes, a single process is all-over color. but if you just want highlights, and want them to look natural, tell your stylist that you don't want to go any more than 2 shades lighter than the color your hair is now. you can always go lighter with more highlights the next time around if you think it's too dark.
i can't wait to see what it looks like!

Thank you! That's helpful, to give her an idea of what I want. You're absolutely right, I can always go back and say more than 2 shades lighter if I want.
I made the appointment for 3:30 friday.
I was the queen of the scrunchies. I had them in every color, different materials, some even sparkled. This was a long time ago - I think I was about 23 in that pic. I did keep some around to put in my hair when I colored it myself, but those are gone now too!
