Re: Nervous to tell Family members...

A little with the in-laws. We were not trying (hence my very mature SN).

I knew everyone in my family would be bouncing off the walls with excitement, but I kind of expected my in-laws to think it was a bad idea and not keep their negativity to themselves. Luckily, they were cool...80% of them were very drunk when we spilled the beans. Chat Icon It was a family party with grain alcohol that had to be brought in from out of state where it is actually legally sold (in an attempt to relive our group trip to New Orleans), and I punked out and had our 12 year old niece tell everyone. We were going to wait a little longer to tell them, but we knew they would all notice that I was not drinking the hand granades...I apparently earned a reputation on that trip. After the 5th person asked "where is your hand grenade...why are you drinking water???" I pulled our niece aside and told her, as per our plan.

In the end, a baby is a blessing and is wonderful news no matter what your situation. Nervousness is normal though.

My heart sank when I just read this Chat Icon . I wouldn't tell them you are trying. I think it's more info than they need to know. If for some reason you run into issues I think that is when you should let them know so they can be your support system.

I was too, for various reasons. My sister has had several miscarriages, and I felt a little funny sharing our news with her, though she was one of the first people I told. It did occur to me if I lost Chat Icon, she would be one of the most supportive people I know.

My mother I knew would be worried about me because of my age and a medical condition which is pretty well under control, but still. She did worry in the beginning, but she really warmed up to the pregnancy over time.

At some point, you just tell people and hope they will share in your joy. If they can't, that's too bad really, but you can't focus on their reactions too much. Enjoy your pregnancy and your growing baby!

I was nervous b/c I have had a MC. At 14 weeks, not everyone knows yet. All of our immediate families do and many close friends. But not extended cousins and aunts or other friends. And I've told my boss and two other coworkers, but not the rest of my company. I may tell this week. I want to tell before I start showing.
