neutering for cheap?
we have to get our dog neutered. he is getting out of control and hope he might settle down just a bit.
Unfortunately our local vet costs nearly 500 dollars and really can't afford to swing that.
anyone know of places that do it really cheap or even for free?

hmm.. I think the ASPCA mobile unit does this every so often.. but I think its only free for strays.. not sure.

The cheapest I've seen it is through those mobile vet clinics. I think it's only like $50.

ETA: Spay/neuter for low-income families is free. Without proof, it's $99. It used to be cheaper!
ETAA: Unless you are a pit bull owner- then it's totally free regardless of your financial situation. As a pit bull owner, I simultaneously like and do not like that rule.

Humaine Society... my vet wanted 450 to fix Jessie... the Humaine Society did it for 75

North Shore Animal League has a health clinic that does low cost spay/neuter. The rates are on their web site.

My vet does it for 350. Not cheap but it covers anesthesia, surgery, and medication.
