Re: new borns and dry skin
Yes. We've noticed that DS has dry skin also. We put the Johnson and Johnson baby lotion on him during the day (in the pink bottle) and then after a bath we put the Lavender scented one on him to help him sleep at night.

DD's skin was flaky for 3 weeks, and then got eczema! we used lots of vaseline and cetaphil.

Its very normal to have dry skin, flakey for newborns. They're shedding their skin! The best lotion to use for DD was the J&J pink bottle. Don't over do it though!

ITA - but my ped said not to worry about it and not to moisturize. Call your ped.
FYI- my ped also said not to use J&J - too much perfumes. We use eucarin.

Re: new borns and dry skin
it's very normal and expected for them to have dry skin. Continue to mosturize and it will go away soon.
