New Construction -- closing attorney
DH and I just bought a new construction home. The builders have an attorney they want to use at closing. My question is, do we use their attorney or do we get our own?? I dont know how this works since its our first home. Are we required to use their attorney??

Get your own attorney! There is no way their attorney can work in your best interest as well.

Get your own attorney. Ours was wonderful. There was a lot of nonsense in the contract that he was able to get rid of. If you need an attorney, FM me and I'll give you the name and info for mine.

Absolutely get your own. Your interests and the builder's interests are NOT the same.

Re: New Construction -- closing attorney
DO NOT USE THEIR ATTORNEY....use your own. Why do they want you to use their attorney. Its a conflict of interest....i find it to be a little shadey! I would also have your attorney order title from their own title company as opposed to the Seller's title company.
Good luck. FM me if you need any recommendations.

Are you buying new construction in NY or out of state? out of state always works a little differently.
