Has anyone replaced an entire heating system? I have a friend here at work- shes curious about a "worst case scenario" TIA!

Re: New heating system
The whole system. the oil burner is new, but the water is shut off- she is planning to buy this house, but is nervous that she can't check the heat...
Karen- would you be able to give me an estimate on cost? ballpark style?

Re: New heating system
we had a conversion done....from iol to gas...all the pipes wer changed, new boiler and hot water heater. We did not need to change the baseboard heaters either. We also had our in-ground oil tank removed and the hole filled in and it cost us over $5K, This was 4 years ago.

Re: New heating system
We have electric heat and are just starting to look into replacing the entire system this summer. We took out a HE-LOC to do it but I haven't gotten any quotes yet. I will let you know what info I find out.
We're looking to covert to oil or propane (no gas lines).

Re: New heating system
around $5-7K depending on electric/gas/oil/furnace and what the existing system looks like

Re: New heating system
We replaced our furnace last spring when we put in central AC. The furnace itself was much more efficient than the one we had. They did not have to do anything else, we had the existing ductwork in place already that we used. We paid about $3300. We have gas if that matters. We did not replace our hot water heater tank, but are currently in the process of getting a tankless water heater put in.

not sure what en entire heating system is. But i have forced air, oil and replaced it with top of the line lennox system for less than $1000. Which is a GREAT price. It's b/c they quote us wrong and we had quite a few other things done. But I hear it is around $3000 for about the system alone w/o the labor from the rest of my friends.

Re: New heating system
We got a new water heater and new boiler 3 years ago and it was $4,500. It was an all day process.
