*UPDATED* Well...we tried to put her to bed in her new room/crib....and failed miserably

She would not have it.....cried and cried and only wanted to be rocked.....it took us an hour of rocking and finally putting her back in the nursery in her first crib where, naturally she went to sleep after being rocked....

any advice?

Why did you get her a new crib? Why not give the new one to the new baby? I think the transition would be easier if she could stay in her own crib.

WE set up Andrew's new room with all his new stuff, but kept him in the nursery until we came home with Lauren and he started to get settled. Lauren was in a bassinet in our room, so for the 1st few months, he napped in his new room/bed and slept in the crib at night. Then we transitioned him at night and it went really well.

Try playing in there with her for a few days and then try sleeping in there again. Or move her crib into the new room.

Does she have to have the new room? I was thinking of switching Miranda's room because I don't know if the nursery furniture will fit in the other room but then I was thinking she might not go for a new room. Sorry no advice since I haven't BTDT yet.

I would do the same.

You could even try laying down for naps with her until she's more comfortable.

This is what I did and it worked really well. We had no problems with the transition into the new room and new crib.

I did that with Roman for a day or two and he's been fine sleeping on his own in his new room for about a week now. Good Luck.Chat Icon

Re: Well...we tried to put her to bed in her new room/crib....and failed miserably

Thank you for the advice....

Rach...she got the "new" crib because it's a convertible....we were going to use the toddler bed function before putting her in a twin bed when she was ready for it. But, if we switch cribs, I'll just go straight to the twin bed with rails (and pillows on the floor in case she tries playing daredevil)

I'll try her nap today in there and see how she does.

As for her having the new room...yes now she does have to have it since it's painted purple.

If it continues to be a horrible experience, we will switch the cribs.

She's played in the room and even played in the new crib....but I guess there was something unfamiliar about it she did not like.

Before putting Matthew in the crib I would nap him in it and have him sit in a few times throughout the day so he got used to it...good luckChat Icon

UPDATE:

my fat pregnant arse laid on the floor for 30-45 minutes (after thumbtacking a dark bedsheet against the window which already had a blackout liner and sheer curtain!!!) while she rolled and walked around the crib.....

THEN I crawled out on all 4's......luckily no one was here but the dogs to see it!!!

now let's keep our fingers crossed that it's her usual 2 hr nap!

One more idea that I forgot. When we moved Sarah into her new room we put her old mattress in the new crib so that it felt and smelled the same.

I totally thought of that but the idea was rejected by my grandmother and DH...maybe it's worth a try tonight....
