new here - made first RE appt with question
Hi ladies,
DH and I have only been TTC for 2 months, but I was just diagnosed with PCOS and my gyno suggested i go right to a RE. I just made an appt with Dr. Braverman bc I have heard great things about him on these boards.
So my question is whether or not its okay if DH is not at the 1st appt?
DH really wants to be there, but the first appt I could get isn't for 3 weeks and DH can't be there. I don't want to push it back any longer...but I am not sure if I should go without him.
What do you ladies think?

Re: new here - made first RE appt with question
My DH came to the first important, but I don't think it's essential. I think it was more for the support for me and a second set of ears. I have PCOS and also see Dr. Braverman and at that point we had no idea my DH had any issues, so it wasn't super important for him to be there.
Good Luck!

I don't think it is imperative, but like PP said more for support and a 2nd set of ears. I am not sure if all RE's recomend a SA, but it might be a good idea to have DH get one done and go in with the results. One less thing to wait for after the appt. Good luck!

Re: new here - made first RE appt with question
DH didnt come with me to the first appointment. with Dr. B its mostly talking, he reviews your files, and will run some bloodwork and a sono depending on where you are in your cycle. i dont think DH missed much from him not being there. im a very independent person so DH rarely came with me to appointments. it was only after we had m/cs and stuff that he started coming with me, although still not every time.
ETA - im sure he will rec. an SA but DH doesnt need to be there. he'll just give you the script.

Re: new here - made first RE appt with question
My DH didn't go with me on the consultation with the first doctor but I wish he had. There was too much information to absorb and too many questions to ask and get aswers for. When I moved on to an RE I made it mandatory for DH to be there.... and he was there and I felt so much better because it was so much less stressful.

Re: new here - made first RE appt with question
My DH didn't go with me and it's fine.. I recommend bringing all of your questions and a pen to write down your answers b/c it can be overwhelming and you may not remember everything. You will be in great hands

My DH came but it wasn't absolutely necessary! Dr.B is very comforting!

Re: new here - made first RE appt with question
mine isnt coming with me. he's come with me on other appointments and was very helpful because sometimes the docs give you so much info that you forget what they say. he also was helpful in asking questions i didnt think of. that said, it dont think its totally necessary for him to go with you. I think you should just go asap and not push it back.
