New here.
Hi. I'm in the midst of an early miscarriage. Beta is still increasing after four tests, but will not double. The RE is having me wait it out some more then she'll consider methotrexate. It does not appear to be ectopic. And, I've got a few large and painful cysts on one ovary -- it's painful even to walk.
I'm just so sad. I'm angry. I cry a lot. Beta is over 600, so I'm still having pg symptoms. I feel terrible about how upset I've made DH and our parents and siblings who we told. I haven't been to work all week, between the pain from the cysts, being depressed and going to unpredictable doctor's appointments. I feel like I'm stuck in limbo. During my dr's appts today, they kept saying that I'm 5-6 weeks. I feel like I'm nothing.
If anyone's taken methotrexate, what was your experience like?
Thanks for reading. I'm so sorry that all of you have been through your own painful losses.

Re: New here.
I am so sorry for your loss. I understand how devastating it is. I'm sure your family is just as heartbroken as you are but they are probably just as worried about you. Its okay to feel what you're feeling.
I just had a D&C today but I've known for almost two weeks that I was miscarrying. In my experience, it does get a little better each day. I cry less and less with time. I don't think the sadness or the sense of loss will ever go away. Nor do I ever want to - I don't want to ever forget that this little one existed even if it was for a short while.
So, take it day by day. Please feel free to FM me if you want to talk of have any questions.

Re: New here.
I had to take methotrexate in September of last year, and was heartbroken. They didn't know if mine was a chemical or etopic either, but my beta kept slowwly rising so they weren't taken any chances. I remember sobbing uncontrollably as the nurse was administering the shot. I went home and felt pretty crummy for days. I don't know that I got out of bed for 3 or so days except to use the bathroom. And I didn't feel like myself for a while after that, but looking back I don't know if that was side effects from the meds or just the whole experience of what I went thru. Please do not feel guilty for telling your DH and family that you were pg. I had/have that same guilt, and have built a wall around myself in hopes of protecting them this time. I haven't shared w my family that we are doing IVF #2 and with the exception of DH, we won't be sharing if it works this time until after we see a heartbeat- in order to protect them should something not work out. I'm sorry you're going through this.

Re: New here.
I have taken methotrexate for arthritis. I did have a side effect of nausea. I don't know if it is the same, because I was on it long term. I hope you feel better during this difficult time.

Re: New here.
I haven't taken methotrexate.....I had a D&C almost 3 weeks ago. please take the time you need to cry, feel angry/sad/bitter or go through any emotions you have during this time. If you don't want to talk to anyone for a while (I didn't) then just let everyone know so they respect your space, its harder trying to deal with everyone else's emotions in your family when you need to take care of you first right now. I'm so sorry for your loss!!!!

When do they have you going back for more bloodwork?
I have taken methotrexate for an ectopic pregnancy. Let me know if you have any questions

I went for more bloodwork this morning. Waiting for the results. tick tock tick tock tick tock...
I'm back to work today. I decided to tell some co-workers who've been covering my workload for me. They've been great.

Beta dropped slightly and progesterone dropped, too. This was the first time beta didn't rise, which is good.
Back for more bloodwork tomorrow...
Thanks for checking in!

I am so sorry...I saw your post and wanted to at least try to share some information about methotrexate.
I had the shot on 2/9 - the shot issomewhat painful but the pain is short. The common side effects are abdominal pain (cramping), nausea, and vomitting. So far I have had nothing excrutiaing - 24 hours after the shot I have experienced cramping with the bleeding but nothing too bad.
You cannot drink alcohol or take your prenatal vitamins until your levels go down to 0. Folate seems to interfere with the drug which is why you have to stop the vitamin.
Because I am slightly anemic I have felt dizzy here and there but have been trying to eat iron-rich foods to counter that feeling. Otherwise I am physically okay.

Make sure they continue with checking your bloodwork. Not to be a debbie downer, but mine went down a little then came back up and that is when I needed the shot. I hope this is not the cause for you Hopefully, it will happen naturally for you

Re: New here.
Today's update: Beta is still dropping slightly.
I'm tired of conflicting messages from the nurses, so I asked to speak with the RE. They said she left for the day and won't be available for five days.
Right now, I'm seriously considering not going back for any further monitoring.

You HAVE to go back for monitoring. If you don't go back, and you don't miscarry naturally, you could have other issues if you don't have the D&C. Plus, if it is an etopic and the number don't go down enough, you could lose a tube or get an infection. PLEASE call the office back. She has to have someone on call for her. I would ask to speak to them. What are the nurses saying that are conflicting?

Thank you for the much needed kick in the pants.
The office called today and got me in to see a different RE, who answered my questions. I feel much better this afternoon.
